Waterfalls

Meetus Falls

A majestic, tall waterfall plunging the Cygnet river into the gorge below. The walking track to the viewing platform is a 15 minute round trip, but is a little steep in places.

Lost Falls

A tall waterfall that flows seasonally only. The viewing platform is a short walk from the car park. Awesome in flood.

Long Marsh Conservation Area

Long Marsh Dam constructions started in 1842 and were abandoned in 1844. The remains of the convict village and construction site is spread over a large area so take the time to explore.

National Parks

Freycinet National Park

The projects majestic beauty of Freycinet's granite mountains and white, sandy beaches have also long been admired by naturalists, artists and writers. Don't miss the opportunity to stop in at Freycinet National Park.

Tooms Lake Conservation Area

Tooms Lake is the name of both a lake and a village. Tooms Lake has always been a very good, if underrated, water, but over the last ten years it has fished extraordinarily well and visitation has increased dramatically.

Royal George

Once a mining village based around the St Pauls River named after the ship HMS Royal George in the early 19th century, St George is now sleepy village full of friendly locals. Four wheel driving opportunities abound.

Trout Fishing

Fishing on Lake Leake is reserved for artificial lures only and a changed bag limit in recent seasons now sees that anglers may take a five fish limit with a minimum length of 300 mm. Brown, Rainbow and Brook Trout are all available, with the average size of fish being quite consistent around the 2.5 lb mark, although a growing number of fish around the 3.5 lb mark are being caught in recent seasons.

East Coast Wine Route

A half an hour drive from Lake Leake lands you in the middle of this route. Tasmania now produces naturally elegant cool climate wines including pinot noir, riesling,chardonnay, sauvignon blanc, cabernet sauvignon, pinot gris gewurztraminer and sparkling wines. Take your time to enjoy.
